RPi Touch LCD shield for Raspberry Pi features a 2.8” display with 320 x 240 pixel resolution, touch overlay and is capable of displaying 65536 colours. Shield uses high speed SPI interface and is powered directly from the Raspberry Pi so no additional power supply is required. Little current draw from the 5V line (~ 90mA via on board 3v3 regulator), built in extremely accurate RTC chip and super slim profile makes this shield ideal for portable applications.
RPi Touch display shield features extremely accurate real time clock module, based on the DS3231 temperature compensated RTC. RTC backup battery holder takes a 12mm coin cell battery such as CR1220 (not included) and using this battery should keep time for approximately 5 years.
Shield uses hardware SPI pins (SCK, MOSI, MISO, CE0, CE1) as well as GPIO #18, #23, #24 and #25. All other GPIO pins are available for your use.
Unlike any other similar Raspberry Pi screens on the market RPi Touch has onboard I2C 8-Bit GPIO port expander based on MCP23008 chip which gives you back some of the GPIO lines that the screen takes away.
RPi Touch shield comes fully assembled so no soldering or assembly is required. Just plug it directly on to the Raspberry Pi GPIO header, download and flash the supplied RPi Touch-ready Raspbian May 20 2014 image and it’s ready to go.
